Baptisms

Baptism is a meaningful and memorable occasion in a person’s life. Here at St. Peter, baptism is so special it is a sacrament.

People of all ages can be baptized at St. Peter. We baptize by sprinkling water on the one being baptized and making the sign of the cross on their forehead. In our tradition (the United Church of Christ), we recognize baptisms from other orthodox Christian churches and do not re-baptize people. Except in cases of imminent death, baptisms only occur during regular Sunday morning worship services.

To be baptized or have your child baptized, please contact our Lead Pastor, Ruth Farrell (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.). She will schedule a time with you to discuss the meaning and responsibilities of baptism. During this time, you will also schedule the date on which the baptism will occur.

Parents are invited, but not required, to select godparents or sponsors when their children are born. Godparents are encouraged, but not required, to participate in the baptism class as they will be making the same promises as the child’s parents during the baptism.
