Free Drop & Shop
(Friday, December 1)

  • On Friday, December 1 from 5-9 p.m., drop off your kindergarten through 5th-grade aged children and we will entertain them while you shop or relax.
  • This free program is open to the community, so tell your friends (info cards are available in the church lobby).
  • Sign up by calling the church office (847-438-6441).

Hanging of the Greens
(Saturday, December 2)

  • The Hanging of the Greens will take place from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. (noon) on Saturday, December 2. We need everyone's help in making St. Peter UCC a beautiful place to celebrate Advent and the birth of Jesus Christ on Christmas. A sign-up sheet is on the board across from the church office.

Advent Worship Services
(Sunday, December 3 through Sunday, December 24)

Join us for 10 a.m. worship service on the four Sundays of Advent:

  • December 3
  • December 10
  • December 17
  • December 24

Christmas Caroling
(Sunday, December 10)

  • After worship on Sunday, December 10, enjoy a light lunch before heading off to Cedar Lake Assisted Living and Lexington Healthcare as we share joyful songs of the season.
  • Please sign up on the bulletin board across from the church office.

Christmas Cantata
(Sunday, December 17)

  • The choir's presentation of Peter Choplin's Night of the Father's Love creates a fresh, contemporary telling of the Christmas story focusing on worship, mystery, and beauty.
  • The cantata culminates with the congregation singing Silent Night during a medley that moves from one favorite carol to another.
  • Featuring a nice variety of choral music and solos, this presentation is a perfect opportunity to introduce friends and family to the annual programs offered by the music ministry at St. Peter.

Christmas Eve Services
(Sunday, December 24)

  • Because Christmas Eve falls on Sunday, there will be three worship services that day:
    • 10 a.m.: Fourth Sunday of Advent Worship Service
    • 5 p.m.: Child-Friendly Christmas Eve Service
    • 10 p.m.: Candlelight Christmas Eve Service

2017 Winner   Lady of the Lake

Congratulations to Diane Karzan, who won the Piecemakers’ 2017 Raffle Quilt ("Lady of the Lake")

  • At the St. Peter United Church of Christ Piecemakers group, everyone is always welcome to come, learn and join with us in our mission to provide warmth and comfort to local families who are victims of domestic violence and who seek sheltering at A Safe Place.
  • Our sew-ins are typically on the first Saturday of the month, from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m., in Fellowship Hall. Occassionally, holidays or other events require us to meet on an alternate Saturday; when that occurs, details will be provided on this page.
  • This is a great opportunity to start with others at your own skill level and learn (or re-learn) at your own pace, while having fun and making a difference.
  • While sew-ins are held at St. Peter United Church of Christ, the membership is nondenominational and members come from various communities in both Lake County and Cook County. All are welcome!
