Reaching Out to Lake Zurich and the Surrounding Community

St. Peter is part of the greater Lake Zurich community and, as such, we want to bring the love of Christ to those in our area who may be in need. We strive to do this in many ways, including involvement in:

  • Meals on Wheels (provide home-delivered meals to people in need)
  • Community Dinners (participate in cooking and serving, on a quarterly basis, with a local church that provides weekly meals to those in need)

Mission Trips

Each year, our church’s youth take part in a mission trip to help others across the country. Whether lending a helping hand through building, repairing, cleaning or cooking – or simply taking the time to listen – participants in the mission trips demonstrate to the world what being a Christian is all about. It is a rewarding experience for everyone involved, and helps the youth to develop an appreciation for the important role that “service” plays in each of our lives.

5 for 5

5 times a year, we receive special offerings – including “One Great Hour of Sharing” and “Neighbors in Need” – which help to support the work of UCC Conference and National ministries.

Heifer International Project

Each year, the church youth hold a fundraising event to benefit Heifer International, which works with communities to end hunger and poverty.

Piecemakers Quilting Ministry

  • At the St. Peter United Church of Christ Piecemakers group, everyone is always welcome to come, learn, and join with us in our mission to provide warmth and comfort to local families who are victims of domestic violence and who seek sheltering at A Safe Place.
  • Our sew-ins are typically on the first Saturday of the month, from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m., in Fellowship Hall. Occassionally, holidays or other events require us to meet on an alternate Saturday; when that occurs, details will be provided on this page.
  • This is a great opportunity to start with others at your own skill level and learn (or re-learn) at your own pace, while having fun and making a difference.
  • While sew-ins are held at St. Peter United Church of Christ, the membership is nondenominational and members come from various communities in both Lake County and Cook County. All are welcome!
